Overview
The SNAP FX-32/8 is a complete kit for the development environment of Imsys' new family of microcontrollers. The new microcontroller platform has an innovative architecture specialized in communication and efficiency. Leveraging its reconfigurability, hardware-like performance can be achieved through low level acceleration of firmware. The design environment enables the programmer to manage projects with configurations for different applications. The Development Kit supports development of energy efficient embedded applications, especially if Java is part of the design.
The system architecture for the Development Kit is modular. An FX10 connector based CPU plug-in module connects into a socket board. The socket board interfaces to the target applications and development systems through physical layer components. The plug-in module contains an Imsys microcontroller with a standard configuration of flash and DRAM together with clock circuitry. The 100 signal pins of the FX10 connector make all user signals of the IM3910 processor available in the socket board.
The Development Kit contains all necessary hardware and software to develop applications for this architecture including a fully featured CLDC Java profile.
